The Western March Brown is one of the Early Season Mayflies here in the west. The March Brown mayfly begins hatching when the water temperature hits about 42 degrees which coincidentally happens around the end of March in northern climates, hence the name. 
There color ranges from reddish brown to tan. However, no matter the color seen on the back of the fly, the abdomen appears to be light brown or a pale tan.
