Stillwater lakes and even slower rivers, damselfly and dragonflies are must have flies for late spring and early summer. Damsel dry fly fishing is about as fun as it gets when big trout are cruising shallow water in search of an adult damsel opportunity.
One June summer on the San Juan River, in New Mexico, we had a field day sight casting these flies to lurking trout. The takes were extremely aggressive and explosive., we had a ball catching releasing trout up to 23″ … what a day! They float like a cork and are very durable.
